Tang-Kae
One of the best seafood restaurants in the south of Phuket is Tang-Kae restaurant. It’s a big open place built on a secluded beach on Chalong Bay. It has great views of the bay and all the little islands that are just outside of it. There’s also a lot of local traffic on the water with small fishing boats going back and forth across the bay and giving you something to watch while you’re dining.
The restaurant ground themselves are very nice, with large shade trees growing throughout. While most of it’s cliental come during the evening, I often go there for lunch because the trees and water keep it cool enough that you can enjoy being on the beach without getting burnt.
The food is very fresh, with some of the food being sold directly off the beach to the restaurant. Most of the other seafood is pulled still swimming from a large row of tanks that line the front of the restaurant. As far as seafood goes, I haven’t found a restaurant that can beat it.
The real treat though is the prices, which makes the restaurant very popular with Thai guests and other locals. Sure, you can get similar food for twice the price in a slightly more well known location, but if you enjoy paying less and getting more, then Tang-Kae is the place that you’ll want to enjoy seafood.
A few dishes that I can recommend personally are the oysters, which are very fresh and come with a good assortment of toppings, the crab is also nice, and they have some seafood noodle dishes that you won’t want to miss.
