Sweet Tea
If there’s one thing that Thais love, it’s sweet drinks. They’re always sipping on a fruit shake, iced coffee, or one of the new fruit smoothies that are becoming popular. However, there are two traditional sweet drinks that we don’t have in the states and that you must try if you come here.
They’re both versions of sweet tea, although they taste nothing like the tea you’re used to. One version is called “cha yin” and the other is “cha dam yin”. The only distinction is that “cha yin” is sweetened with condensed milk, while “cha dam yin” just has tea with sugar. They’re quite sweet, but the taste is like nothing I’ve had in the west. I even talked to a friend of mine about bottling it up and selling it in Australia. You must give both these drinks a try.
