Dibuk
If you’re looking for a high-end restaurant in Phuket that delivers on the food but not on the high prices, then I strongly recommend Dibuk Restaurant. They’ve been operating for all the 9 years that I’ve been here, and while I’ve always saved it as a place for special occasions, the food has always been excellent.
Dibuk is the name of the street and actually means tin mine in Thai. The street is lined by old chinese shophouses, and Dibuk Restaurant is located in one of them. There’s a neat open garden in the middle of the house as is typical with the old shophouse buildings and the feeling of old Phuket is maintained by a nice collection of photos detailing Phuket’s past tin mining days.
The food itself, however, is certainly not out of Phuket’s past. The menu has a whole range of interesting dishes from ostrich to frog’s legs. I’ve had both, and I’ve got to recommend the frog’s legs over the ostrich, which was a bit tough and dry. Two dishes deserve particular mention: the duck in white wine sauce and the salmon brisket. I’m a big fan of the first and my dad loves the second as a light lunch.
