Phuket View Restaurant

Phuket View Restaurant is aptly but not very creatively named. The thing that sets this restaurant apart is the view. It’s built high on Khao Rang (Rang Hill) in the middle of Phuket Town and has an excellent view of the surrounding city. It’s pretty neat trying to spot your hotel, the park, the big hospitals and all the other landmarks out of the tangle that is Phuket Town.

The food ranges from some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had to just pretty darn good. They must have one or two different chefs, and one of them is simply excellent. I’m not alone in this assessment as other people have noticed that the food is sometimes just wonderful while at other times it’s just good.

In any event, all the meals I’ve had there have been enjoyable and at the very least of good quality. The prices are a bit higher than your average Thai restaurant, but given the location, that’s to be expected. I recommend the duck curry and the shrimp cakes, which I’ve found go well together.
