Pizza Lovers
Despite having lived in Asia for eight years, I still miss western food. Having come from Chicago, the thing I miss most is deep dish Chicago Pizza. Although some have blasphemed its good name by calling it a casserole or bastard pizza, we Chicagoans keep the faith.
In my quest for the great pizzas I still miss, I've been to many a pizza restaurant from the terrible to the passable, and sometimes, if very rarely, the sublime. Pizza Lover's falls into the great pack of the mediocre. It's the standard thin crust pizza that the Italians like. While the pizza is perfectly adequate, it's nothing that I'll go out of my way to have again.
My friend ordered a spaghetti carbonara that was very large and quite reasonably priced. He liked it well enough to finish the whole thing. In fact, he's a fan of the restaurant and thinks it's got some of the best Pizza in the whole town. Still, he's English so his opinion has to be taken with a grain of salt--otherwise it's bland and overcooked.
The only other thing I had was a coffee since their selection of desserts was very limited. None of the famous Italian deserts that are such a great ending to a meal. The coffee too was a bit of a disappointment given what one expects in an Italian restaurant.
The final verdict is that if you're hungry, in Phuket Town, and just want an easy and cheaply priced Italian meal, Pizza Lover's will work just fine.
