Salvatore's
Right around the corner form Pizza Lover's is the far more famous, venerable, and expensive Salvatore's. I've been here probably six or seven times and usually switch up the dish. I have never been disappointed with the quality of the food, the service, or the ambiance. The only real hit comes when you pay the bill, which tends toward the two the three thousand mark if there are two of you--more, of course, if you have much wine.
One of the things I enjoy most about the restaurant is the decor. It's certainly not Italian, but the restaurant is situated in an old Chinese shophouse. The bar is off to one side and in the middle of the restaurant there is something like a skylight that extends up several floors. It's a very pleasant environment to have a meal in and there's something special about being in a classy and old building in Phuket. You wouldn't think twice about it in Europe, but in Phuket, which is almost entirely new and glitzy or new and trashy, old and classy is something you appreciate.
I don't ever recall being blown away by the food, but I've never been disappointed either: it's unquestionably a good meal. The little touches, like freshly baked bread, olive oil, and attentive service make it all the more enjoyable.
If you're in Phuket Town, this is one of the few consistently good restaurants. You'll pay for the quality, but you won't leave feeling that you didn't get what you paid for.
